How I Work

A patient, site-specific process.

Four thoughtful steps, grounded in horticulture — not guesswork.

Every garden begins with the same set of questions — what does this land already do well, and where does it need help? My process is designed to answer both honestly, then build outward from there.

First Conversation

A free 15-minute call to find the right fit.

Before any work begins, let's have a short, no-pressure conversation. Tell me about your space, your goals, and what's been frustrating. I’ll be honest about whether I’m the right match — and if I am, we’ll plan a visit.

What Happens

  • What you’re hoping to grow or change
  • Your timeline, budget, and how hands-on you want to be
  • Any history with the property — what’s worked, what hasn’t
  • A clear sense of what comes next

On-Site Discovery

I walk your property and read the land.

This is where the real horticultural work begins. I spend time on the property — looking, testing, and listening. Every observation gets logged: soil texture, drainage patterns, light exposure across the day, existing plant health, microclimates, and the way you actually use the space.

What Happens

  • Soil composition test — texture, structure, and drainage
  • Light & exposure mapping (sun vs. shade through the day)
  • Existing plant inventory and health diagnosis
  • Drainage, slope, and water-flow assessment
  • Conversation about how you live in the space — pets, kids, entertaining, work-from-yard

You Walk Away With

A complete picture of the property — what it has, what it needs, and what it could become.

Site-Specific Plan

Recommendations built around your land — not a template.

Back at the desk, I translate everything I observed into a clear, written plan. Plant choices are made at the cultivar level, with reasoning. Timing is mapped to the Mid-South season. Care notes are written in plain language. Every recommendation traces back to a real condition on your site.

What Happens

  • Plant list with cultivar-level detail and substitutions
  • Planting layout sketches when useful
  • Soil amendment & drainage recommendations
  • Year-round interest calendar (bloom + foliage + texture)
  • Seasonal maintenance rhythms
  • Sourcing notes — where to find healthy plants

You Walk Away With

A written plan you can act on yourself, hand to a landscaper, or work through together over time.

Grow With Confidence

I stay with you as your garden takes shape.

A garden isn’t finished the day it’s planted — it’s just begun. I stay available for follow-up visits, seasonal check-ins, and the small course-corrections that make the difference between a yard that struggles and one that thrives.

What Happens

  • Optional seasonal check-in visits
  • Email & text support for questions as they come up
  • Adjustments as plants mature and conditions shift
  • Help building your own plant-care confidence
  • Long-term partnership for evolving spaces

You Walk Away With

A landscape that gets better every year — and the knowledge to keep it that way.

Every recommendation traces back to something real I found on your land.
